Rihanna

The R&B superstar was born in Barbados, but moved to the US at age 16 to pursue a recording career. After auditioning for Def Jam label head Jay-Z she subsequently gained a recording contract and in 2005 released her debut album Music of the Sun. While her debut peaked at number 10, it was Rihanna’s second album A Girl Like Me in 2006 that gained her mainstream commercial success, peaking at number five and producing her first number one single ‘SOS’ as well as other charting singles ‘Unfaithful’ and ‘Breaking it Off’.

In 2007, Rihanna’s further cemented her success with the third album Good Girl Gone Bad, featuring the hit singles ‘Umbrella’, ‘Take a Bow’, ‘Disturbia’ and ‘Don’t Stop the Music’. In 2009 her fourth album Rated R featured the top ten singles ‘Russian Roulette’, ‘Hard’ and ‘Rude Boy’. Back with her fifth studio album, Rihanna has already seen two number ones this year, one with lead single ‘Only Girl’ and the other alongside Eminem for their collaboration ‘Love The Way You Lie.’
