Vatuvei double propels Vodafone Warriors to win
Last week Manu Vatuvei scored the match-winner for the NRL Stars and he stepped up again tonight (Saturday) with a critical two-try haul to power the Vodafone Warriors to a 22-14 NRL trial win over South Sydney at Coffs Harbour."
Vatuvei’s first was a regulation effort when he raced onto Shaun Johnson’s nicely-weighted grubber to take the Vodafone Warriors into a 16-4 lead soon after halftime.
Then minutes later Vatuvei provided one of his specials, The Beast rampant as he powered more than 50 metres down the left side of the field, bringing the ball around behind the posts to give Johnson a simple conversion for a telling 22-4 lead.
While South Sydney came back at the Vodafone Warriors with two tries in the final quarter, head coach Brian McClennan and his players had plenty to be pleased about as they backed up last week’s 26-10 success against Gold Coast.
